SPICY: flirting and chemistry compatibility, measured before the first date
SPICY is the level of flirting and chemistry compatibility: what attracts you, how you flirt, who makes the first move, what a good date feels like and how much spark you need before anything else. It's the second of the four intensity levels, it's optional, and it stays playful rather than explicit.
In your results, SPICY becomes the Chemistry gem. It tells you something everyday compatibility can't: whether the two of you would actually enjoy the game of getting to know each other.
Why chemistry and flirting compatibility matter
You've probably met someone who looked perfect on paper and still felt flat across the table. Same values, same plans, zero spark. You've probably also met the opposite: someone who made every conversation feel like a game, even though your lives had little in common. Both situations are information, and SPICY is where the app collects it.
Chemistry isn't magic, and it isn't only physical. Much of it is style. Some people flirt with words and wait for the other person to decode them. Others say what they want in the first five minutes. Some love a planned dinner; others want a walk that turns into a whole night. Some find awkward pauses charming, others find them unbearable. When two styles meet, the spark comes easily. When they collide, both people spend the date translating.
SPICY measures those styles with the same simple game as the rest of the app: cards with first-person statements, answered ME TOO, DON'T CARE or NOT ME. Each card feeds one of 10 categories, and your Match DNA compares them category by category with people who also chose SPICY.

The 10 SPICY categories
Attraction. What draws you to someone beyond looks: confidence, humor, calm, intensity. What attracts you to someone.
Chemistry. Conversations that stretch until dawn, silences that feel comfortable, the click you can't explain. Chemistry between two people.
Flirting. Direct or subtle, in writing or in person, playful or understated. Flirting styles.
Making the first move. Whether you take the initiative, wait for it or enjoy both. Who should make the first move.
Dating style. Planned or spontaneous, a quiet bar or an adventure, one hour or the whole night. Dating style compatibility.
Flirty texting. How much of the spark lives in your messages, and how daring you like them. Flirty texting compatibility.
Public affection. Holding hands downtown or keeping it for when you're alone. Public displays of affection.
Desire. How much mutual desire matters to you, and how you like to feel wanted. Mutual desire.
Senses. Scent, voice, touch, the small sensory details that tempt you. Sensory attraction.
Temptation. How far you'd go on a date and how much you enjoy playing near the edge. How far would you go.

Reading the Chemistry gem
For each person in your top, the SPICY gem shows one of three readings:
Total attraction
Your flirting and dating styles line up. The kind of pair where conversation flows, the first move feels natural and nobody has to guess what the other meant.
Nice spark
Plenty of common ground with a few different habits. The spark is there; you'd just discover each other's rhythm along the way, which can be half the fun.
Spark to explore
Your styles differ in several categories. Not a closed door: it means chemistry would need curiosity and a bit of patience rather than arriving on its own.
Who the SPICY level is for
Most singles. Unless you want your compatibility to rely on lifestyle alone, SPICY is the level that turns a good match on paper into someone you'd actually want to see again. It fits people looking for a relationship as much as people looking for something casual, because in both cases the spark decides whether there's a second date.
It's especially useful if you've ever felt out of sync in the early stages: the person who texts constantly next to the one who prefers to talk face to face, or the one who wants to plan everything next to the one who hates plans. SPICY lets you find people who flirt the way you do. If flirting is the whole point for you, have a look at our page on the flirty dating app side of Naughty Singles.
SPICY also works as a comfortable middle ground. It talks about desire and attraction in a light, playful key, without going into intimacy. If you want to go further, HOT is the next level, and it's just as optional. If you'd rather keep it here, SPICY is a complete stop on its own.
How SPICY shapes the rest of the experience
SPICY doesn't only live in the score. When you reach out to someone through first contact, you send 10 of your own statements, and three of them come from SPICY if the other person plays it too. Later, in the In Sync chat, you'll pick questions and guess each other's answers before free chat opens, and that's where flirting styles start to show in real time.
The level opens after a first stretch of LIGHT cards, once the game has some footing. From then on, SPICY cards take the lead while a few everyday ones keep the picture balanced. If you want a quick taste first, try the flirting style quiz or read about the signs of chemistry between two people.
Frequently asked questions
What is chemistry compatibility?
It's how well two people's styles of attraction, flirting and dating fit together. In Naughty Singles it's measured by the SPICY level across 10 categories, including chemistry, flirting, making the first move, dating style and public affection. You answer short statements and the app compares your answers category by category with people who also play SPICY.
Is the SPICY level sexual?
No. SPICY is playful rather than explicit. It talks about attraction, flirting, desire and the senses in a light way, like whether you flirt better in writing or whether awkward pauses charm you. Intimate compatibility belongs to HOT and EXTREME, which are separate levels you only see if you choose them.
Can chemistry really be predicted before meeting?
Not completely, and the app doesn't claim it can. What it can do is compare styles: how you flirt, what you enjoy on a date, who takes the first step. When those styles line up, the spark has a much easier path. The Chemistry gem tells you how aligned you are, and the date does the rest.
Do I have to play SPICY?
No. SPICY is optional. You choose your maximum level during onboarding. If you stay with LIGHT only, you'll never get a SPICY card and nobody will be compared with you on it. That said, most people find chemistry is part of what they want to know about someone.
What does Spark to explore mean?
It means your flirting and dating styles differ in several categories. It's not a rejection or a verdict. Some of the best connections start with different styles and a lot of curiosity. The reading simply tells you that the spark may need a little time and patience to show up.
